How UV Printing Creates Vivid Mirror Art: CRE-eight's Process Explained
At CRE-eight, we use ultraviolet (UV) printing to bring our mirror artwork to life. UV printing is a modern digital technique that uses ultraviolet light to instantly cure specialized inks as they are printed onto the surface.
The process starts with a high-resolution digital design created by our artists. We prep each mirror by cleaning the glass and applying a base layer to ensure excellent adhesion. When the print begins, tiny droplets of UV ink are applied to the mirror using a precise print head. As the print head moves, built-in UV lamps immediately cure the ink, bonding it to the surface.
Because the ink dries instantly, colors stay vibrant and don't spread or absorb into the material. UV printing produces sharp detail and rich tones that truly stand out on reflective surfaces like glass and acrylic. It also resists fading, moisture and scratches, ensuring your artwork stays beautiful for years.
Another benefit of UV printing is sustainability. The curing process doesn’t produce volatile organic compounds, and there’s no need for drying ovens or heat. We can print directly onto mirrors and other substrates without adhesives or laminates, reducing waste.
We’re proud to offer UV-printed mirrors that combine cutting-edge technology with traditional Māori designs. This combination allows us to capture the spirit of Aotearoa while delivering a high-quality product that will brighten any space.
